Are you interested in affordable housing to rent in North Tyneside?

North Tyneside Homefinder advertises affordable housing across the borough. You can also get advice on a range of other housing choices, such as mutual exchange, renting with a private landlord and low cost home ownership.

North Tyneside Homefinder is a Choice Based Lettings scheme which means you can apply for housing in the borough.

We are experiencing an increasingly high demand for Council Housing and not everyone who applies through the Homefinder Scheme will be successful in securing a home.

We recommend that you also consider other Housing Options which may include:

  • Apply to a Housing Association (not all Housing Association homes are advertised through Homefinder)
  • Rent from a Landlord or Agent
  • Mutual exchange if you are an existing Council tenant.  For further information click here

Whilst we are still welcoming applications to the Homefinder Scheme, there are delays in us assessing applications.  The current wait time for the assessment of a new application is a minimum of 12 weeks.

If you are threatened with Homelessness or are at risk, please contact our Homeless Prevention Team on 0191 643 2520 or freephone 0800 011 6511.
